Margaret Harrington
Margaret M. Harrington (Meg) is pleased to join the firm in October 2019 as “Of Counsel.” Her career has been an educational journey leading to this rewarding practice.

At the outset of her professional career, Meg focused on first-party and third-party property damage claims for plaintiffs relating to both residential and commercial building losses, including losses from fire, product malfunction, oil spills and catastrophic weather. This foundation led to her subsequent practice on the defense side in insurance coverage interpretation, bad faith, product liability, construction accident and defect, premises liability and general casualty litigation. In 2014, Meg completed 60 hours of Real Estate courses to enhance her knowledge and skills for her Real Estate and transaction work. In 2015, she spent a year focused on the litigation and resolution of federal flood claims from Super Storm Sandy. During 2011 to 2016, she again worked with both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, medical issues, and property damage litigation. The last three years had an emphasis on first party insurance coverage, UM/UIM and bad faith issues.

Since the beginning, Meg has been a civil litigation trial attorney. In 1996-1997, to enhance her skills, Meg attended and graduated with honors from the LL.M. program in Trial Advocacy from Temple University School of Law and learned from some of the premier attorneys in the Philadelphia legal community. She has tried numerous cases to verdict with successful outcomes.

During her career, Meg has served as a member of the faculty at Harcum College and the Community College of Philadelphia, teaching courses in Business Law, Microeconomics, Business and Professional Communication, as well as Civil Litigation, Political Science, American History and Paralegal Studies. Meg has also served as a Moot Court Judge at Widener University School of Law and as volunteer faculty in its Intense Trial Advocacy Program. In addition, Meg was an instructor for the Lorman Seminar on Discovery in Civil Litigation for Paralegals.

Sitting as an arbitrator, and most often as the chairperson, with the Philadelphia Compulsory Arbitration program for over 20 years, it naturally led to volunteering as a Judge Pro Tempore at the Philadelphia County Dispute Resolution Center, where she tries to facilitate settlements of litigation prior to trial.

Meg is an active member of the community, serving from 2005 – 2008, as a parent liaison at Abington Friends School. From 2008 to the present, Meg has volunteered her time in the school and parent community at St. Luke’s School, in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Meg has also mentored high school students in inner-city Philadelphia through the Victory Schools program, and paralegals through CCP. Starting in 2020, she will be part of a new program with Abington Friends Upper School’s “Legal Externship Program”, called “Law Ex.”

Meg is one of ten “Harrington” attorneys in the Philadelphia area. Meg, her husband Mark, and their two sons, Max and Mason, live in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania where they have 2 rescue dogs, participate and enjoy all types of local sports, as well as the arts, and music. They are also active in supporting the” Kevin from Heaven” Foundation.
